Tipu Ngapo - Trainer

Tipu joined our team in 2013 already having huge experience in training, facilitation and coaching. He has over 13 years of corporate experience as a facilitator and trainer in a multitude of countries, cultures and diverse business environments. Originally from Scotland, Tipu has travelled extensively and now lives in Auckland. Tipu is known for his warm and engaging manner, his sense of humour and his passion for helping people to grow.

Tony Burns - Founder - Consultant

Tony is a founding director of Effective Speaking. Tony has had a variety of roles during a nearly 20 year career in broadcasting including Technical Trainer, Outside Broadcasts Manager, Sound Engineer and Music Producer. After a brief stint at the New Zealand Institute of Management Tony completed a psychology degree in order to understand better the fear of public speaking. After 20 years co-managing Effective Speaking, Tony now operates in a consultant role.

Olivia Mitchell - Consultant

Olivia joined Effective Speaking soon after it started. Originally trained as a lawyer and her presentation career began when she was asked to give presentations on the Official Information Act to public servants. Then, as manager at the Wellington City Council, she presented to the elected members of the Council and to the management team. She became a management development trainer for a major bank, presenting and training on management topics to bank managers. Then, as a political candidate for the Green Party she spoke at many “Meet the Candidates” meetings. Olivia is an avid reader and writer and has written many of the speaking tips you’ll find on this site
