The Presentation Coaching Clinic will provide you with insights
and reminders into how to become a more confident,
persuasive and memorable presenter. The best way to get the most from attending the
Clinic is to volunteer to present around three to
five minutes minutes of a prepared talk.
A unique opportunity to become a more successful presenter
The Presentation Coaching Clinic uses the powerful
'Masterclass' process. In this process, a volunteer delivers a
short, prepared talk and the ‘master’ observes and coaches. The volunteer presenter gets immediate feedback
about what they’re doing well and then, under the guidance of the coach, gets to try out practical suggestions
to improve their delivery.
What’s powerful about this system is that you get to work on areas for improvement straight away - no waiting
for the next time you present and hoping you’ll remember not to make the same mistakes.
“Your coaching comments were very helpful – I instantly improved because of them.”
A safe and supportive environment
We set up an atmosphere in which the audience is both interested in the process for their own benefit,
and supportive of the presenter being coached. The coaching you’ll receive usually provides an immediate,
visible improvement in your presentation style and the audience reacts to this, giving you immediate positive
reinforcement. They say that practice makes perfect but how often do you get to practise in front of an
audience?
“I found the coaching excellent - there was something for everyone no matter what level you were at. It was a
safe environment that allowed open feedback and the chance to try new techniques out.”
Tailored to your needs
Our style is to observe each speaker and to tailor the coaching. It is pointless teaching body language
techniques to someone who doesn’t need them but who does need help with their speaking rate. The coaching
process picks out the one or two key areas that will make the most difference to the way that a speaker comes
across to their audience.
"This is a practical, down-to-earth approach to public speaking. Tony's coaching is patient, friendly and kind
... but best of all, he gets results."
Audience Involvement
The audience plays an active part in the coaching process. The presenter can have them “become” a particular
audience with individual members taking on certain roles if necessary. If you want to be asked some challenging
questions, you can have that happen. You can practise talking to a fidgety audience, a cynical audience - any
audience you want!
The coach will also ask questions of the audience to bring out the reactions that the presenters need to hear
about the effect of the techniques they’re trying out.
Both the participant and the audience get huge benefit from the process.
“As an observer I could see many of the things I don't do to 'best practice' being acted out by the other
presenters. Tony was able to sensitively (and humorously) identify a presenter’s improvement areas, and coach
them through. AS the observer I just took his feedback on board, and then applied it when I next presented ...
to good effect. This is an effective and efficient way to get performance improvement, and improved confidence."
Too nervous to volunteer?
If you’re saying to yourself you already get nervous enough about presenting without having to worry
about being coached as well, guess what? You’re the person who will get the most out of this opportunity!
If you suffer from “performance anxiety” and are sick of having nerves and fear sabotage your ability as
a presenter then take this opportunity. It will change everything. We work with nervous presenters all the
time. It is our speciality. Don’t think about it. Volunteer to speak.
“…Next time, nerves be dammed, I will be front of the queue to be a 'guinea pig' “
I’m not good enough to be a volunteer presenter!
Actually we don’t want perfect presenters! We need people who have a need and a desire to improve.
That way the audience learns from seeing you being coached.
“This was one of the best training events I have attended, and I rued the day I decided to think first, rather
than request to be a presenter and receive the one to one attention.”
